These works begin with a block of wood, a good drawing or idea. The smooth shina plywood is made just for woodcuts. With a sharp tool it is a dream to carve. The drawing can be made directly on the block. Once the negative spaces are cleared away, the remaining surface will carry the ink that is rolled upon it, which is then transfered to the paper, either by hand burnishing or by printing press. Each and every paper is inked and printed separately , if there is more than one color, each color is printed separately and dried before the next application of color.
